Shops trade earned currencies for items, and the game holds 17 of them with 255 entries in total. Rates differ by whole multiples between entries, so the same medal can buy either the best deal in the game or almost nothing. What follows goes through the currencies one by one.
Expedition medals
The best entry here is Gearstones: 300 medals for 1,000 stones, limit 10. The same 300 medals buy a single universal awakening fragment, and against that the stones are the usual pick, because gear progress bottlenecks on them.
Fame medals from the arena
Fame medals go into gear blueprints: a UR blueprint costs 10,000 medals with a cap of 50, and there is nowhere else to get them for an in-game currency apart from the seasonal event shops. One piece of gear needs exactly 50 blueprints to reach four stars, and players who have pushed reinforcement past level forty agree that everything else in this shop can wait, since the other entries are sold for other currencies too. By rate the next best are Raven Essence at 800 medals and the universal Curio fragment at 200, while a universal UR hero fragment costs 3,000 here with a cap of 10.
The rest of the shelf: a UR Curio chest and a UR epigraph chest at 50,000 medals each with a cap of 1, an awakening fragment at 2,500 with a cap of 25, UR supplies at 4,000 with a cap of 100, Refined Iron at 200 with a cap of 400, a Recruit Ticket at 2,000 with a cap of 100. How many blueprints each star takes is laid out on the Hero gear page.
Alliance coins
Coins belong in Raven Essence and shields, while fragments and materials run at a poor rate here and return considerably less for the same money.
The survivor token is the exception at 4 coins each with a cap of 2,500. It is the only free source of tokens at all, since everything else sits in paid bundles, and maxing one survivor needs 24,700 tokens, that is 98,800 alliance coins. A single shop period covers a tenth of that.
How steep this is shows up against the neighbouring entries in the same shop: raven essence 990 coins (cap 10), a universal UR hero fragment 2,970 (cap 5), a 24-hour shield 19,800 (cap 3), brass 50 coins (cap 140).
Diamonds
Diamonds buy the universal exclusive-weapon fragment at 298 each, limit 10, and from VIP 11 the universal UR hero fragment opens at the same price and the same cap. Another ten UR hero fragments per period come from the Sanctuary shop for its interior coins, at 500,000 apiece, and that shop opens at Sanctuary level 20. Alongside it sit daily consumable entries selling Skill Badges and Enhancement Stones at 4 diamonds apiece.
About the diamond exchange rate
Diamonds themselves go for roughly a hundred per dollar, though not exactly: a pack holds as many diamonds as the price has cents, plus one. That arithmetic makes small packs marginally better per dollar, and there is no bulk discount anywhere.
