Lumber Depot: levels, cost and upgrades

Lumber Depot keeps part of the Timber stock out of a raider's hands: 225 million at level 30, reached after 299 days of building. Construction eats Timber faster than anything else, so its stock is the one that most often outgrows the protected line. The building unlocks after Sanctuary level 3 and goes up to level 30. Only one can be built. Levels raise: protected Resource.

Taking the building from level 1 to 30 costs Grain 3,828,953,759, Timber 1,267,979,825, Herb 1,232,476,700. Pure build time without speed-ups: 299d 4h, that is, about 10 months.

How to use it

The protected line of the Lumber Depot repeats that of the Granary: 22,500,181 at the twenty-third level, 117,000,124 at the twenty-eighth and 225,000,183 at the thirtieth. What separates the two storages is how quickly a stock outgrows that line, and both ask the same long 299 days 4 hours.

Construction spends Timber faster than any other resource. A full upgrade of the Walls needs 5,145,448,295 Timber, the Granary 3,718,612,170, a single Farm 632,990,722. The stock rarely sits still, so the shield serves the days when Timber is saved for one particular level rather than any long hoard, and those days are exactly when a raid costs the most.

The Depot itself is paid for in Grain: 3,828,953,759 Grain against 1,267,979,825 Timber. Its own levels swallow 5.6 times more Timber than the building will ever protect, and level 30 alone costs 1,121,000,000 Grain and 366,900,000 Timber while shielding 225,000,183.

All three storages unlock at Sanctuary level 3 and ask 299 days 4 hours each, 897 days together against the 398 days 20 hours of the Sanctuary itself. Building them back to back is unnecessary: their Might is nearly equal, 287,300 against 287,500 and 287,000, so the queue goes to whichever stock actually sits idle.
