An Age is a season that runs 56 days. A new Age is announced 5 days before it starts. Everything inside an Age counts from the Age day, not from server age.
Open for the whole Age
Age Contest, Age Covenant (battle pass), Age Bonus, Lord Specialization, Resistance, the Weekly Pass and the Expedition League run from day 1 to the end.

Hero windows open one per week and last 7 days each:

Hero Promotion opens on day 8 and runs 49 days.
Where to start
Build the Lord Statue first: it unlocks Lord Specialization, which grants Resistance. Specialization has 40 levels, each granting one skill point.
Resistance only works up to the enemy level
The difference is enemy Resistance minus yours. If yours is higher, the difference becomes zero and nobody gets a bonus. Catching up matters, overshooting does not.
Weekly Pass
The pass lasts 7 days and grants Resistance +250 and March Speed +5% while active. Daily it gives 20,000 specialization XP, 100 diamonds, a stamina item and 80 five-minute speed-ups.
