Epigraphs slot into the raven blueprint and strengthen its skill and the whole squad. There are 32 of them: four skill types across four ranks, with the higher ranks existing in three faction variants.
Stars and copies
Each next star needs more copies of the same epigraph: one, two, three, five and seven. That is 19 copies for five stars: eighteen consumed, one kept as the base.
It is easy to be off by a whole row here: the table holds an unused row for the final star, and a naive count gives twenty-eight instead of nineteen. The number 19 has been checked twice.
Crafting
A top-rank epigraph costs 800 fragments and needs the Epigraph Workshop at level twenty. The rank below costs 400 fragments, except one type that costs twice as much.
Where to start
Below raven evolution level ten there are no epigraphs at all: the first blueprint opens exactly there and is cheap to reach. After that the first one to collect is the epigraph that adds targets to the raven's skill: it is the only one that changes the mechanic rather than percentages.
