← Hero tier list: tiers S, A, B and C
**The hero tier list** sorts heroes into ranks from S down to C, and the rank comes from maximum Might, the figure into which the game folds a hero's stats, skills and upgrade limit. Tier S opens with Shadow at 1,075,906 max Might, and five heroes stand in it in all. The ranking rests on game numbers rather than on opinion, and it moves only when the game itself changes. Within each tier the table runs from the highest max Might downwards, and beside the name it gives the squad role, the faction and the rarity.
A tier speaks of a hero on their own. Which squad to build from the heroes already owned is computed by the [squad builder](/en/wiki/squad-builder): it runs through five-hero squads by the combat model rather than by total Might.

## Tier S
The top tier: heroes with a million or more max Might, the ones the best squads are built around.

A rank describes the limit a hero reaches when fully upgraded, not how useful that hero is right now. A fully upgraded hero from a lower rank beats a top-rank hero with no stars.
## Who to upgrade out of two
A question like "Claire or Sivir" is settled by the same number as the rank: within one role the hero with the higher maximum Might stands higher, and at equal stars that hero is the one to upgrade. Below are the heroes of every role in descending maximum Might, so any pair can be compared without recalculating.

**How often does the list change?** It moves with a game update: the numbers come from the game's own data, so a recalculated Might or a new hero shifts the ranks.
